Social (Mizzou)

I have had many opportunities to become fluent in different social platforms and social strategy during Mizzou’s hand-on learning. I took courses in Online Audience Development, Community Outreach and a capstone course where I worked on a social engagement project. Each opportunity has instilled in me that news has to be accessible to the people, and there have to be journalists that understand that and make it a priority. My goal is to do this.

My time with the Columbia Missourian gave me the opportunity to run social media accounts for a city newspaper, design social engagement projects and better understand how to cater news to a community. A summary of my work can be found here.

My partnership with Science Friday taught me how to strategically design social content for a very specific audience. It gave me hands on experience creating social video, audiograms and fact cards. That work can be found here.
